There are different ways you can join in with the project:
Sign up for our MakLab workshop
You’ll get to try out our laser cutter, and use the wooden blocks you cut to print your own design onto a bag or scarf!
Post a photo on our facebook page
Are you a craftsperson? Or do you know someone who is?
We are interested in all the excellent present-day craftwork that goes on in the area, as well as the history of crafts. Why not add a picture of a craftsperson that you know, past or present, to our facebook page? Tell us who they are, where they’re from and what they’re doing. Remember to ask permission first, if necessary.

Imagine that you are an early modern craft deacon, and you want to recruit new apprentices for your craft. Design a poster to advertise the position. It must include:
• The duties of the job
• Information about how an apprentice is admitted to the craft
• Possibilities for promotion
• A picture
You can choose whichever craft you like. Look closely at the information on this website for some pointers. You can also do some of your own research, or get parents, friends or teachers to help you.
Posters will be displayed in the Town Hall. Bring your entry along or do it on the day. First prize is a £25 Hobbycraft voucher, and the runner-up wins a £15 Hobbycraft voucher.
Come to our event on 7 May!
There will be lots of activities, challenges, demonstrations and more! Find out all about the crafts of St Andrews past and present, and try out some making activities for yourself.
